Market at the Camp

August 01, 2006

I love this town. Costa Mesa offers something for everyone: high-end shopping at South Coast Plaza or consignment hopping on 19th Street. If that's not your thing there are the arts for the sophisticated or the eclectic at the Lab. Worshipping, volunteering, entertainment and getting educated in Costa Mesa is as diverse as its population. Nearly every ethnic food can be found to suit any palette from A(sian) to C(uban.)..And of course, on Harbor Boulevard you can buy something for as little as 99 cents or as much as whatever a Maserati costs. Still, if none of this is tempting and we still haven't found anything we can agree on, it's true, we all gotta eat! And you just might have missed an amazing GRAND OPENING on Sunday, July 30th. The grand opening of the Market at the Camp.

Yes, it's true that the fresh produce markets have been alive and well in Orange County since they were were first established in 1977 by the California Department of Food and Agriculture as approved sites to operate as Certified Farmers Markets. And for the university types or the beach dwellers our Irvine and Corona del Mar neighbors have thrived to be seen on Saturday mornings clutching their lattes and walking their pedigrees through the open air markets. And we mustn't forget our own farmers market at the fairgrounds on Thursdays.

But wait, here is a new farmers market experience worth its weight in fresh produce. Offering fruits and vegetables, entertainment, crafts, face painting, fresh cut flowers, herbs and live music the FARM & ART Market at the Camp is a treat with samplings of coffees and honey and fruit, oh my! Do not be turned off by the words VEGAN or health foods or organic. Give it a try. Make it part of your Sunday ritual. Shop Costa Mesa and support this great new open air market!
