There were two streams of prophecy in the OT… the spirit Isaiah 11:1-2 stump of Jesse will rise a spirit No matter how often we fail, as Catholics believe that God is all-forgiving Be good do good Be a force for good Sacramental – God is reflected and present in everything in creation Instruments of faith through words and symbols to instruct, nourish, strengthen Transubstantiation Penance and reconciliation occurs lent and Fridays: fasting, prayer, almsgiving, making peace, changing one’s ways and committing to and be better, show concern for the spiritual well being of others, practice & defend justice, repent, examine one’s conscience, accept suffering, follow Jesus, read, study, Bible is not a literal translation Family worship, grace, morning & evening prayer, Sunday worship, serve and participate in the community of faith church year begins Advent violet, Christmas white, epiphany green, lent violet, white & gold Easter, red Pentecost
