Friday, February 16, 2007 was a real treat as we listened to the lively voices of The African Children’s Choir which featured 14 African children ages 7 through 11. We learned that while many are orphans as a result of the devastation of war, famine and disease, their voices carry a message on behalf of Africa’s 12 million AIDS orphans. They represent the future of their continent and demonstrate the potential to become strong leaders for a better future in Africa. These musically gifted children are hopeful and really entertaining. The primary goal of the African Children’s Choir is to raise awareness of the need of orphaned children in Africa and to raise funds for continued development and support of the Choir’s relief and development programs. Choir members complete a concert tour and return to their homeland with the support, care and education necessary for bettering their future and that of their brothers and sisters.
